Germanian sculptor Klaus Robert Herb has done significant art donation for the Juminkeko which is the information centre of Kalevala and Karelian culture operating in Kuhmo Finland.
Sculptor has donated seven Kalevala themed sculptures for Juminkeko. Sculptures are Kalevala characters Marjatta, Sampsa Pellervoinen, Ilmarinen, Kullervo, Louhi and Väinämöinen. Sculptures have been done in 1990 and have been on display in different art exhibitions around Germany.
Executive director of Juminkeko foundation Sirpa Nieminen tells that she received surprice letter back in january from artist Herb himself. In the letter Herb performed his wish that statue collection could find permanent and good home from Juminkeko.
- The permanent display place is still under works but the sculptures will be placed so that they are on display permanently.
Herb, 85 , wanted to insure the location of the most important piece of his art into a place that their value could be fully understood. He also wanted to be sure that all sculptures stay together and form one entirety.
